Tipping Guide

Gratuities are a great way to show appreciation for the hard work and hospitality of those who make your journey smooth and memorable. Here’s a simple guide to tipping your Hosts, Local Teams, and Activity Guides.

Who You’re Tipping

1. Hosts (Trip Host/Destination Local Host)
Definition:
The Trip Host is a representative from MeWannaGo and is essential to making sure your trip is as smooth, fun, and stress-free as possible. They handle the details, solve any issues, and keep everything on track so you can fully enjoy the experience. All trips will have a Trip Host.

Definition: The Destination Local Host is a representative from the destination, often working with MeWannaGo, who adds in-depth local knowledge, handles logistics on the ground, and ensures cultural and logistical details are managed. Not all trips will have a Destination Local Host.

Suggested Tip:  $5–$10 USD per day (paid in local currency)

2. Driver
Definition: The Driver provides safe and reliable transportation throughout your trip. Whether navigating busy city streets or winding country roads, they are key to keeping the journey stress-free.

Suggested Tip:  $2–$5 USD per day (paid in local currency)

3. Activity Guides
Definition: These are the expert guides who lead specific activities, such as hikes, city tours, cultural experiences, or adventure excursions. They often bring specialized knowledge or skills to enhance your experience.

Suggested Tip: $5–$10 per activity (or more for exceptional service)  (paid in local currency)

How to Tip:You’ll tip activity guides directly at the conclusion of each activity.

Consider Cultural Norms

Tipping customs vary greatly depending on the country you’re visiting. In some places, tipping is expected as part of the service industry, while in others it is less common or considered optional. If you're unsure, use 10–15% of the service or activity cost as a general guideline, and feel free to ask your MeWannaGo Host for advice on local tipping etiquette.

General Tipping Etiquette
Cash Tips: Please bring small bills in the local currency whenever possible, especially for activity guides.
Gratitude is Key: While tips are always appreciated, a "Thank You" also goes a long way to show your appreication.

By following this guide, you’ll help support the dedicated people who work behind the scenes to make your trip extraordinary. Safe travels and happy adventuring!
