About this Trip
Experience the wild beauty of the Peruvian Amazon, where winding rivers, lush rainforest, incredible wildlife, and the sounds of the jungle surround us at every turn. This is a completely different side of Peru—one filled with adventure, nature, local culture, and experiences you simply can't have anywhere else.
We'll paddle across Lake Sandoval in search of giant river otters, monkeys, caimans, turtles, and tropical birds, try our hand at piranha fishing on Lake Yacumama, and explore the rainforest after dark. We'll wake before sunrise to witness colorful parakeets gathering at a clay lick, spend time with a native Amazon family, search the riverbanks for caimans, and experience spectacular sunsets from the water—including a final sunset cruise with drinks.
Between adventures, we'll return to our Amazon lodge along the river, where we'll have time to relax and take in the incredible surroundings.
From wildlife and local culture to jungle lakes, piranha fishing, night walks, and sunsets on the river, this is an unforgettable way to experience a completely different side of Peru.
From the Trip Host
When I visited the Amazon, I got the full jungle experience—I stayed in a hut with no air conditioning and no hot water. 😂 It was an adventure I'm glad I experienced, but don't worry... I would never do that to you!
For our trip, we'll be staying at one of two beautiful Amazon resorts where every room has air conditioning and hot water, plus a pool surrounded by the rainforest. I want us to experience everything that makes the Amazon incredible—the wildlife, rivers, jungle, local culture, piranha fishing, night walks, and beautiful sunsets—while still being comfortable when we come back at the end of the day.
I'm especially excited to share this part of Peru with you because it's so completely different from the rest of our journey. One day we're in the Andes at Machu Picchu, and the next we're surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon Rainforest.
We'll get the adventure... just without having to rough it quite as much as I did!

Welcome to the Amazon! From the moment we arrive, we'll be surrounded by lush rainforest, winding waterways, tropical wildlife, and the incredible sounds of the jungle.
After settling into our comfortable lodge and enjoying lunch, we'll head out with our experienced local guides for our first adventure—a sunset cruise along the river.
As darkness falls, we'll safely search for caimans from our boat, while our guides scan the riverbanks for their glowing eyes. We'll experience the excitement of seeing the Amazon after dark while leaving the navigating and wildlife spotting to the experts.
Then it's back to the comfort of our lodge for dinner and our first night in the rainforest.
